PATENT AND TRADEMARK ATTORNEYS’ BULLETIN/MAGAZINE PUBLICATION RULES AND CONTENTS
1. The publications in this bulletin/magazine are related to intellectual property law. The content of the publications may include reviews of Turkish and foreign Court and foreign Intellectual Property Office decisions, new developments/applications in the field of intellectual property, analyses, discussions, and legislative changes. The publications in this bulletin/magazine are aimed at people with basic knowledge in the field of intellectual property. The aim is to deliver the publications to the reader without losing their up-to-dateness.
2. Publication requests and suggestions should be sent via e-mail to yk@pem.org.tr. Publication requests and suggestions will be evaluated by the PEM Board of Directors.
3. The articles on this site/bulletin belong to their authors and all rights of the articles are reserved. Since unauthorized use or copying of the articles constitutes a crime, permission must be requested by contacting the site via e-mail at yk@pem.org.tr before use, otherwise the authors may exercise their legal rights. Quoting from the articles is possible as long as the site and the author are referenced.
4. The articles on this website/bulletin are prepared on a voluntary basis without expecting any financial reward. Authors are expected to act in accordance with the principles of impartiality, independence and volunteerism. In this context, authors are expected not to include institutional information (e-mail address, title, address, etc.) in their articles.
5. There is a lower/upper word limit of 500/1500 for articles to be published in this bulletin/magazine. The author will decide the length of the article according to the nature of the content.
6. The publication language of the Patent and Trademark Attorneys Bulletin/Magazine is Turkish.
7. There is no periodic publication date for the bulletin/magazine. The prepared publications will be published on the website https://pem.org.tr/bultendergi and announcements regarding the articles will also be made on PEM’s social media accounts.
8. Articles must be prepared electronically. Articles must be sent via e-mail to yk@pem.org.tr within a period determined by the Board of Directors, depending on their nature.
9. Articles to be sent to the Journal/Bulletin must not have been published elsewhere or sent for publication elsewhere. Articles to be sent must be original, scientific and of a quality that will contribute to the field.
10. In addition to articles, the bulletin/magazine may also include translations, court decisions, Foreign Intellectual Property Office decisions, book reviews, legislative evaluations and informative notes. The acceptance or rejection of such articles will be made by the Board of Directors.
11. The latest edition of the Turkish Language Association Spelling Guide will be taken as basis for spelling, punctuation and abbreviations. Submitted articles must be clear and understandable, in accordance with scientific standards in terms of language and expression.
12. The submitted articles will be evaluated by the Board of Directors and a decision will be made whether to publish the article, request corrections from the author, or reject the article, and the author will be informed of each situation as soon as possible. There is no obligation to state a reason for articles that are not published.
13. Formal corrections can be made to the submitted texts in accordance with the principles determined by the Board of Directors. If the Board of Directors requests changes from the author; the author can only make changes within the framework of the specified corrections and the approval of the Editorial Board will be obtained for the corrected texts. After the request for correction is sent by the Board of Directors, the corrected version of the text must be sent to the same address within the period determined by the Board of Directors according to its nature.
14. It is assumed that the final checks of the articles sent to the journal have been made and that the author has submitted his/her article as sent for “publication”. After the article is submitted and accepted, it is not sent to the author for corrections. However, unusual spelling errors and failure to comply with scientific criteria will be deemed sufficient for the article to be rejected by the Board of Directors.
15. If the submitted articles are accepted for publication, the Patent and Trademark Attorneys Association will own the electronic publication rights of the article.
16. All necessary information about the author (name-surname, title, current e-mail address) should be added to the last page of the article, and the main idea of the article should be added to the first page. If the author who sent the article does not write/forgets to write his/her name and title, or if there are other issues that the Board of Directors determines are missing, contact will be made to complete them. If the missing information is not completed, the article will not be published.
17. The title of the article should be written in capital letters, the author’s title should be written in abbreviated form, and the surname should be written in capital letters.
18. The formal rules to be followed in articles to be prepared electronically are as follows.
- a. It should be written in Microsoft Word format, using Times New Roman font, 12 point font with 1.5 line spacing in main sections; 10 point font with single line spacing in footnotes.
- b. Footnotes should be shown at the bottom of the page. Footnote numbers should be used after punctuation marks.
- c. In the text, main, intermediate and subheadings can be used based on the number-letter system, depending on the subject being discussed. The first letter of each word in these titles must be capitalized.
- d. When citing sources in a footnote, only the first letters of the author’s name and surname should be in capital letters. If the source given is an article, the article name should be enclosed in double quotation marks. In all cases, only the title of the work should be given in italics. The publishing house, city, year of publication and number of pages should be given in order.
